A turnkey company and a contractor can both be appropriate for a Pune interior project. The useful question is who takes responsibility for design, procurement, coordination, installation and follow-up in the scope you are buying. Compare written proposals and completed work before choosing.
What each execution model usually involves
A turnkey proposal may combine design and execution under one agreement. A contractor may execute a drawing or a specified part of the work, while you or an appointed designer coordinates other trades. These labels do not guarantee quality, a particular deadline or lower cost. Ask each bidder to explain the responsibility they accept.
| Decision | Ask a turnkey company | Ask a contractor |
|---|---|---|
| Design responsibility | Which layouts, elevations and drawings are included? Who approves revisions? | Are drawings included or supplied by a separate designer? Who resolves site discrepancies? |
| Procurement | Which materials and fittings are supplied under the agreement? | Who purchases boards, finishes and hardware, and checks delivered quantities? |
| Trade coordination | Who coordinates carpentry, electrical, civil, plumbing and finishing work? | Which trades are included, and who schedules the others? |
| Programme | What start conditions, approval dates, dependencies and access restrictions affect delivery? | What crew availability, fabrication and access arrangements affect delivery? |
| Changes and payment | How are changes priced and approved? What evidence supports each payment milestone? | How are extra quantities, revised details and payment milestones recorded? |
| Aftercare | Who receives a snag list and what installation and manufacturer cover applies? | Who resolves workmanship issues and what written cover is included? |
Compare the same scope before comparing totals
One quote might include a countertop, appliances and site repairs while another covers only cabinetry. A lower total does not establish a better price until quantities and inclusions match. Request an itemised bill of quantities and mark each exclusion.
- Separate base units, wall units, lofts and tall storage by the measurement basis used.
- Record board grade and thickness, shutter finish, backing, edge treatment and hardware model.
- List demolition, debris handling, waterproofing, electrical and plumbing changes where relevant.
- Confirm installation, transport, taxes and society access or working-hour arrangements.
- Document who approves variations before work proceeds.
A practical comparison worksheet
For every room, put the two proposals side by side: item, dimensions, quantity, specification, included labour, exclusions and total. Leave an unanswered item blank and ask for clarification. A useful comparison can expose an omission without assuming that either supplier is acting dishonestly.
For kitchen measurement examples, read our modular kitchen cost guide. For whole-home budget assumptions, use the interior cost guide and compare the 2 BHK package scope.
Check real work and the person handling your site
View completed work, ask what the photographed project actually included and discuss how a similar scope would work in your flat. Aanganshobha’s Wakad portfolio photographs show our existing project reference. They do not establish a quoted price, completion period or material specification for your project.
When each option can fit
A combined design and execution scope can suit someone who wants one point of coordination. A contractor can suit a defined repair or installation when drawings, purchasing and supervision are already organised. For either option, choose a proposal you understand, a team whose work you have checked and written responsibilities you can agree.
Questions before signing
Does turnkey mean a fixed completion time?
No universal duration follows from the label. Confirm the project programme, approval dependencies, site readiness and access conditions in your agreement.
Does a contractor always cost less?
Compare equivalent quantities, specifications, installation and exclusions. The total depends on the work purchased and the responsibilities included.
What should be written about warranty?
Ask for the supplier, product and installation cover, exclusions, claim process and applicable period. Do not assume every component has the same terms.
